The flame represents the spirit (Atman) — eternal, pure consciousness.
It doesn’t flicker; it doesn’t burn out; it simply is.
The flame is not affected by the lamp’s condition — even if soot covers the glass, the flame’s nature is unchanged.
Similarly, the spirit is untouched by the body’s pain or the mind’s turmoil.
It is Sat-Chit-Ananda — pure existence, consciousness, and bliss.
As Krishna says in Gita 2.20:
“Na jāyate mriyate vā kadācin…”
— “The soul is never born, nor does it die; it is eternal and indestructible.”
