The Inner Circle #12 — India's MSME Shield, Karna & the AI Revolution

May 2026

Dear Inner Circle,

Three things caught my attention this fortnight — India's extraordinary economic response to the West Asia conflict, a question about Karna that refuses to leave me, and the one AI tool that has changed how I write every day. Let us go through them together.

India's ₹92,000 Crore MSME Shield — What It Means for You

While global supply chains were reeling from the West Asia conflict, India deployed a ₹92,000 crore package specifically designed to insulate MSMEs from the ripple effects. This is not a bailout — it is a structural intervention that combines emergency credit guarantees, export incentive enhancement, and import-substitution support.

"The speed of this intervention signals that the government has finally internalised MSMEs as a strategic pillar — not a charitable constituency."

What should you do right now? First, check your MSME registration status — only registered entities qualify for emergency credit. Second, speak to your bank about the enhanced CGTMSE limits. Third, if you export, check the revised MEIS and RoDTEP rates — there are meaningful improvements in this round.

Karna's Silence — The Question the Mahabharata Never Answers

If Karna had spoken at the right moment — if he had disclosed his lineage, accepted Kunti's offer, or simply refused to fight — the Mahabharata would have been a very different story. But he did not. He stayed silent, fought for Duryodhana, and died with his secrets intact.

We tend to read this as tragedy. I have come to read it as a deeply deliberate act of loyalty — not to Duryodhana, but to his own idea of who he was. Karna chose to remain the person his circumstances had made him, rather than the person his birth entitled him to be.

"The greatest hero of the Mahabharata was not the one who won the war. It was the one who stayed true to himself while losing it."

The One AI Tool That Changed How I Write

I have experimented with dozens of AI tools over the past year. Most of them are useful for specific tasks. One of them — Claude in Cowork mode — has become the closest thing I have to a genuine intellectual collaborator. Not because it writes for me, but because it thinks alongside me.

What changed my workflow: I now speak to it the way I would speak to a sharp editor. I give it a rough idea — sometimes just a feeling — and it helps me find the structure, the argument, and the right words. The Prabhupāda-voice blog posts I have been publishing recently would not exist without this workflow.

In the next edition, I will share the exact prompt framework I use for going from a half-formed idea to a publishable blog post in under 90 minutes.
